Karen Saleen
I am an artist using the colored pencil medium who is in the experimental stage, working with a large variety of subjects and surfaces, but I usually focus on natural elements that are often more realistic than abstract. An interest in photography developed into using colored pencil to hand-color photographs since 2005. While photography is still an interest, many photos are now the references for colored pencil artworks. I have been working in the colored pencil, photography, origami and fiber arts since retirement in 2013. Though I am primarily self-taught, I have taken classes in the visual arts, colored pencil drawing and art history throughout my lifetime.

Recently, I’ve had drawings selected to be in the CPSA DC 207 Summer 2017 Newsletter, CP Hidden Treasure’s 4 and soon to be released the March 2018 issue of Color Magazine.
