I was first introduced to colored pencil while completing a botanical art certification program through the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. I also enjoy working in watercolor and pen & ink, and combining two or all three mediums in one piece.
Colored pencil is challenging, exciting, frustrating, and rewarding. Creating a piece of art goes hand-in-hand with my love of gardening and exploring the detail of the natural world. I am fascinated by the patterns that I observe in each creature, each leaf, the bark of a tree, the sand on the beach. I need to recreate in my art the delight I experience when I see the colors, shapes, and patterns around me.
